Make Sure You Go Through All The Steps To Be An Electrician

If you want to be an electrician at some point, there are a lot of steps that you need to go through so that you can become an electrician. Doing all these steps will make it easier for you to be a great electrician.

High School

High school is a good place to get started becoming an electrician. That's because you are going to have access to a lot of classes that will do more than just let you graduate, they will also be things that you can use as an electrician later in life. Some of those classes include algebra and geometry. Both of those kinds of math can help you when you are trying to figure out things like how much wire you are going to need to do a particular thing. If your school offers industrial arts classes, you should look to see what kind of classes they offer. If you can get a class that teaches you to do things like soldering and creating circuits.

Trade School/College

After you graduate high school, then it's time to start moving into programs that will start teaching you to be an electrician. There are trade schools that will have programs that are designed to help future electricians learn to do the job. A four-year college may have an electrical engineers program, if that's the way you want to go. That can help you design and build larger electrical systems. In a trade school course, you are going to start with a lot of classroom time. You will learn how to read circuit diagrams, wiring schematics, blueprints, and all kinds of other things that electricians need to know. After you have spent some time in the classroom learning all those things, you will start to do hands on things so that you are learning what you need to do as an electrician.

Apprenticeship

After you have finished your program, you can start working with a union and an electrical company. You start out as an apprentice, which means you are going to be working with an experienced electrician. They will show you how all those things that you learned actually work in the real world. After a certain amount of time as an apprentice, then you can test to become a journeyman, and then eventually test to become a master.
